In the heart of our space stands The Matka Tree, an evocative art installation that merges nature, memory, and craft. A bare tree trunk, rooted in a ring of stone, becomes a poetic canvas for over 100 terracotta pots, each one vintage, hand-thrown, and individually aged by time. These pots, hung like ornaments, whisper stories of forgotten kitchens, village courtyards, and rituals passed down through generations. Some are smoked black, others sun-baked red or worn white, representing the diversity of Indian earth and tradition. Together, they form a suspended archive of craft and culture, celebrating the soul of the soil and the hands that shaped it. More than an installation, The Matka Tree is a living ode to second chances, a tribute to reuse, rootedness, and the quiet beauty of things that endure.
*Each terracotta pot used in this installation is an original, salvaged piece. Marks, colour variations, and surface wear are intentional and integral to its vintage authenticity.
